
Julia Bell is Visiting Instructor of Trumpet at Tarleton State University. Maintaining an active performing schedule, she has performed with the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra, Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra, Sinfonia Gulf Coast, Albany Symphony Orchestra (GA), Mediterranean Opera Festival Orchestra, and Miami Music Festival Orchestra. As a soloist, Julia was recently the third-place winner of the Graduate Solo Division of the 2022 National Trumpet Competition. Recent solo appearances also include performances in the New Works Recitals of both the 2022 International Women’s Brass and International Trumpet Guild Conferences.
As an educator, Julia maintains a private studio and has presented masterclasses to studios across the United States, recently including Valdosta State University, the University of Kentucky, Kansas State University, and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte Trumpet Studios. She was a graduate teaching assistant at Florida State University from 2018-2022 and has given presentations at the National Association of College Wind and Percussion Instructors Conference, International Trumpet Guild Conference, and New York State Music Teachers Association Virtual Symposium.
Julia is the New Works Coordinator for the International Trumpet Guild (ITG) and is a member of the ITG Affiliate Chapters Committee. She serves as the column editor for the Student Corner of the ITG Journal and is on the editing team for the International Women’s Brass Conference Noteworthy Newsletter.
Julia is working towards her Doctor of Music in Trumpet Performance from Florida State University with a Doctoral Specialized Study in Arts Administration. She holds a Master of Music in Performance from FSU and a Bachelor of Music in Performance with a Certificate in Arts Administration from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. Julia’s primary trumpet teachers have included Christopher Moore, John Rommel, Edmund Cord, and Kris Kwapis.
