GENERAL INFORMATION​​
The UK Summer Trumpet Institute is open to high school, university, and adult trumpet players.
If you are in middle school, you should instead enroll in the UK Junior Trumpet Institute

Expenses:
Tuition for the four-day institute = $250
Lodging (optional) = $125
  • Apartment-style housing will be in UK's state-of-the-art fine arts dorm, Holmes Hall, opened in 2016
One-day pass = $100

Highlights:
  • Daily masterclasses, concerts, and performance opportunities
  • Specialized classes in solo performance, orchestral excerpts, Baroque trumpet, jazz improvisation, and trumpet ensemble
  • Work with highly acclaimed guest trumpet artists from around the United States
  • ​Opportunities to learn more about your playing through the LipCam, Ultrasound technology, and other special topics classes
  • Held on the University of Kentucky campus (Lexington, KY)
  • On-campus housing available in Holmes Hall dorm, two-bedroom suites with private bedrooms

Parent Permission Form:
All students under age 18 at the time of the institute need to fill out the following Parent Permission Form and send to uktrumpetcamp(at)gmail.com

Special Opportunities:
Junior Trumpet Institute
A separate and parallel trumpet camp will be offered in Holmes Hall for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade trumpeters. This camp focuses on fundamentals for young students and offers more recreational/fun activities. For more info on the junior trumpet institute, click here.

Air Transportation:
If you are flying to Kentucky for the institute, it is recommended that you fly into the Lexington Blue Grass Airport (LEX). Free shuttle pickup to and from the Lexington airport will be available. If you need pickup from the airport, please email your flight information to Julia Stowell at [email protected]

Housing:
For participants who choose the room option, housing will be in Holmes Hall, the state-of-the-art fine arts dorm opened in Fall 2016.

Check in: Morning of June 2nd.
Check out: afternoon/evening of June 5th.
  • If a participant wants to arrive a day early or stay a day late, this is possible. There will be a $40/day fee for additional days. Please contact us at uktrumpetcamp(@)gmail.com and pay the fees by May 21 in order to secure your dorm room for this option.

LINENS: Participants should bring their own linens, including Full XL or Queen sheets, blanket, pillow, and toilet paper, plus any other necessities. These are the student's responsibility as the dorm does not provide these essentials. (This helps us keep the cost down for our residential campers.)

Meals:
There are many dining options within a short walking distance from Holmes Hall, including on-campus meal options directly across the street in the Gatton Student Center. Participants will be given a list of both on-campus and off-campus restaurants and should bring their own spending money for such meals.

For our Middle School participants, all Junior Institute meals will be organized as a group by the camp counselors.
