
Dr. Jared Wallis is a versatile performer, scholar, and teaching artist currently serving on the trumpet faculty of Ithaca College and the Eastman School of Music.
A forthcoming scholar with diverse interests, Jared's research topics include historical performance practice and contemporary electroacoustic performance. He has presented at the International Women’s Brass Conference and the National Conference for Undergraduate Research, and performed at the American Musicological Society, the International Trumpet Guild Conference, and the Rochester Early Music Festival.
Jared was awarded 1st prize at the North American Baroque Trumpet Competition in 2022, 3rd prize in the graduate division of the 2019 National Trumpet Competition, and in 2014 his trumpet ensemble won 2nd prize in NTC’s ensemble division.
Jared earned his Doctorate and Performer’s Certificate from the Eastman School of Music where he studied with James Thompson and Boyde Hood. He also holds a master’s degree and Arts Leadership Certificate from Eastman where he pursued additional early music studies under the tutelage of Brian Shaw, John Thiessen, Christel Thielmann and Paul O’Dette. Jared completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Kentucky where he studied with Jason Dovel and graduated summa cum laude.
Jared is a proud citizen of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma.
